TechFlow News — Offchain Labs has announced that Arbitrum One and Nova chains have officially transitioned from EVM to the MultiVM architecture.
The newly launched Stylus system introduces a WASM virtual machine on both chains, enabling developers to write smart contracts using languages such as Rust, C, and C++, while maintaining full compatibility with EVM.
Stylus aims to expand developers' capabilities, allowing functionalities previously limited to Ethereum or other EVM environments to now be implemented on Arbitrum.
Offchain Labs stated that improving smart contract development while preserving the advantages of EVM is crucial—it allows EVM-familiar developers to continue working seamlessly while exploring new possibilities. Stylus is currently in its early stages, with ongoing optimization of core technologies and expanded tooling support planned to further advance the entire Arbitrum ecosystem.
