TechFlow reported on September 2 that OKLink released its August 2024 security monthly report, revealing that blockchain security incidents across the network caused cumulative losses of approximately $316 million. Phishing scams alone accounted for 93.37% of total losses, amounting to about $296 million, while REKT events represented 5.97% of losses and RugPull incidents accounted for 0.19%.
On August 19, a suspicious transfer involving 4,064 BTC, worth around $238 million, occurred. The funds were quickly moved to multiple accounts including ThorChain and eXch. By August 27, $205,000 had been recovered.
