TechFlow reported, according to The Block, data from Dune Analytics shows Ethereum blobs are being used to create inscriptions at a record pace, similar to Ordinals on Bitcoin.
Hildobby, a Dune Analytics user, noted that on March 27, 2,437 blobs were used for inscription creation, accounting for 22.8% of all blobs published that day. Blob usage has been highest among other Ethereum Layer 2 networks such as Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and Linea.
The surge in blob inscriptions coincided with a spike in fees on Base, which briefly reached $300 before dropping back to around $30. Ethereum's slot utilization is also declining, possibly due to larger block sizes caused by blob data.
