TechFlow reports that South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission is investigating Worldcoin over complaints related to its collection of people's iris scans in exchange for cryptocurrency. Worldcoin is alleged to have collected facial and iris data at ten locations across South Korea.
The Commission stated it will take action against the project if violations of local privacy regulations are found.
Previously, the Commission fined OpenAI 3.6 million won ($2,703) for a ChatGPT incident that泄露ed personal information of 687 South Korean citizens. Worldcoin has not responded to requests for comment.
