TechFlow reported that at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) held on December 5, a research center under the Abu Dhabi government announced the launch of a new blockchain-powered carbon tracking and trading platform, part of the UAE government's efforts to reduce emissions and achieve net-zero goals. Users can create tokens to measure specific amounts of carbon dioxide removed from the environment and track them throughout the supply chain.
The institute said it adopted a lightweight and efficient blockchain designed not to waste computing resources, enabling transactions at little or even zero cost.
