TechFlow news — According to Bloomberg, Javier Milei, candidate of Argentina's "La Libertad Avanza" (Liberty Advances) party, defeated incumbent Economy Minister Sergio Massa in Sunday's presidential election. Before the final results were announced, Massa conceded defeat from Buenos Aires and said he had called Milei to congratulate him on his victory.
Javier Milei will take office on December 10. The official electoral authority reported that 87% of votes have been counted, with Milei securing 56% of the vote compared to Massa's 44%.
Milei has repeatedly expressed pro-Bitcoin views in public interviews. Following his election victory, one of his key goals is to halt the inflation of the Argentine peso and the erosion of citizens' wealth. Milei aims to abolish the peso and the central bank, replacing them with the U.S. dollar as legal tender.
