TechFlow reports, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin (Vitalik Buterin) recently warned developers not to overload Ethereum's consensus. He noted that over the years, many developers and projects have attempted to use Ethereum's consensus for other purposes, such as ultimate oracles, restaking, L1-driven L2 project recovery, and more.
However, Vitalik cautioned that these techniques could introduce significant systemic risks to the Ethereum ecosystem, emphasizing that social consensus within blockchain communities is fragile. Therefore, we should preserve minimalism in the protocol, helping developers find alternative strategies to achieve their security goals rather than extending core functionalities, which would only make the core itself more vulnerable.
