TechFlow reports that Sandeep, founder of Matic (now Polygon), launched a cryptocurrency donation campaign on Twitter to aid India's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He wrote, "I can't sit idle anymore. I'm launching a Covid relief initiative to alleviate the situation in India, and this requires help from the global crypto community." Sandeep stated he has established channels to assist patients in obtaining ventilators, food, and vaccines, and all expense details will be publicly disclosed.
The fundraising effort has received support from numerous influencers in the crypto community, including Balaji, former CTO of Coinbase. Vitalik Buterin (Vitalik) also tweeted that he donated 100 MKR, worth $400,000. So far, the donation address has received over 140 ETH and ERC-20 tokens valued at $600,000, bringing the total contributions close to one million dollars.
