China Business Journal: Criminals Found Sending Impersonated Bitcoin Ransom Emails, Companies Warned Not to Pay
China Business Journal issued a statement indicating that recently it discovered unscrupulous individuals impersonating the name of "China Business Journal" to send emails to some enterprises through non-official corporate email addresses, falsely claiming to have obtained significant negative information about the enterprises through so-called "undercover investigations", and threatening that if property (Bitcoin) was not paid, the relevant "undercover articles" would be published. The official side stated that all its news reports strictly comply with national laws and regulations, and interviews and contacts are conducted through official channels. Such acts are suspected of fraud crimes. It has closely monitored and collected evidence, reserving all rights to pursue legal liability. The statement reminds relevant enterprises to remain vigilant. If receiving such impersonating emails, do not pay any property; immediately save all evidence and report to the local public security organ.
