OpenAI CFO Internal Disclosure: July Annualized Revenue Exceeds Entire Q2

According to CNBC, OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar and Board Chairman Bret Taylor held an internal staff meeting on July 29. Friar revealed that OpenAI's annualized recurring revenue in July had exceeded the total for the entire second quarter, emphasizing that "the second quarter itself performed quite impressively." This growth was primarily driven by the release of the GPT-5.6 series models, the launch of the enterprise-grade AI agent product ChatGPT Work, and the rapid adoption of the AI coding tool Codex. Against this backdrop, OpenAI is facing dual competitive pressure from Anthropic and Chinese open-source models. Anthropic previously disclosed that its annualized revenue had exceeded $47 billion, and its valuation also surpassed OpenAI earlier this year. In response, Taylor admitted that OpenAI was previously in a catching-up position in the coding market, but expressed optimism regarding Codex's growth momentum. Currently, both OpenAI and Anthropic have confidentially filed IPO applications with the SEC, and the specific listing date has not yet been announced. OpenAI's current valuation is approximately $852 billion, and it is negotiating a funding support plan of up to $250 billion with Nvidia to lease large AI data centers in Ohio.
