SK Hynix Refutes Concerns Over Slowing AI Investment: Will Remain Robust Beyond Next Year
SK Hynix (SKHY.O) stated at the second-quarter earnings conference call: "We have observed that due to some large technology companies re-evaluating their data center leasing business and the rise of efficient AI models, there are concerns that AI infrastructure investment may slow down. We believe these moves are not a process of cutting AI investment, but rather a process of improving utilization and accelerating the monetization of large-scale AI infrastructure."
TechFlow News, July 29, SK Hynix (SKHY.O) stated during the Q2 earnings conference call: "We have noticed that due to some large technology companies re-examining data center leasing businesses and the rise of efficient AI models, there are concerns that AI infrastructure investment may slow down. We believe these measures are not a process of cutting AI investment, but rather a process of improving utilization rates and accelerating the monetization of large-scale AI infrastructure."
SK Hynix stated that the popularization of efficient AI models is unlikely to lead to a decrease in demand for infrastructure and memory. As model and system efficiency improve, more users can access various services on the same infrastructure, thereby expanding the accessibility and coverage of AI services. Given that even recently launched efficient AI models have explosive user demand, the improvement in efficiency is promoting the popularization of services and increasing overall utilization rates.
SK Hynix stated that in medium-to-long-term demand discussions with major clients, the company also confirmed the sustainability of AI investment. It believes AI infrastructure investment will remain robust beyond next year. (Jin10)
