Zcash Mainnet Completes Ironwood Upgrade, New Privacy Pool Officially Enabled

TechFlow News, July 28: According to official announcements, Zcash has officially activated the Ironwood NU6.3 network upgrade at mainnet block height 3,428,143, and launched the new shielded pool Ironwood. This upgrade aims to address the previously discovered Orchard soundness vulnerability, enhance protocol security, and strengthen the independent verifiability of the integrity of the ZEC circulating supply.

Following the upgrade, the original Orchard pool has been restricted. For funds to exit this pool and enter Ironwood, they must first pass through the turnstile (gateway mechanism) to ensure that the supply outside the pool can be independently verified. Officials stated that Ironwood completed formal verification before deployment and underwent independent security review, providing stronger guarantees for future protocol security.

For users, those holding Orchard funds need to complete the migration via wallets supporting Ironwood. Zodl 3.8.0 has integrated relevant support, and existing address structures do not need to be changed.
