Anthropic CEO opposes banning open-source AI models, calls for mandatory safety testing and curbing China's AI development
Previously, influenced by the breakthrough progress of Chinese AI models and their challenge to U.S. technological leadership, there were calls from the outside world for government control over open-weight models.
TechFlow news, July 28, according to Bloomberg, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently clarified in a post that Anthropic does not support banning open-weight (Open-Weight) AI models, and Silicon Valley leaders such as NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang also hold the same position. Previously, influenced by the breakthrough progress of Chinese AI models and their challenge to U.S. technological leadership, there were calls from the outside for government control over open-weight models. Amodei also proposed that the U.S. should take policy intervention measures to slow down the pace of China's AI development, and advocated that all AI models—whether open-source or closed-source—must undergo mandatory safety testing before release.
