CFTC Extends Comment Period for 24/7 Futures Trading and Energy Commodity Perpetual Contracts to August 26
The US CFTC has extended the deadline for public comments on 24/7 trading in futures markets and perpetual contracts for energy commodities by 30 days to August 26. The CFTC stated that, based on industry feedback and newly raised questions, the Commission intends to further evaluate related issues, including extending standard futures to 24/7 trading while maintaining unchanged fixed expiration dates, as well as perpetual contracts based on storable or physically deliverable energy commodities.
TechFlow reports that on July 24, the U.S. CFTC extended the deadline for public comments on 24/7 trading in futures markets and perpetual contracts for energy commodities by 30 days to August 26. The CFTC stated that, based on industry feedback and newly raised questions, the Commission hopes to further evaluate related issues, including extending standard futures to 24/7 trading while keeping fixed expiration dates unchanged, as well as perpetual contracts based on storable or physically deliverable energy commodities.
