TechFlow news, July 21, according to the Financial Times, US President Trump announced imposing 50% tariffs on a wide range of Canadian goods, effective in 30 days. US officials accused Canada of unfair trade practices, including provinces halting purchases of US alcohol, imposing tariffs on US cars, and discriminating against US cheese. The tariff exemption scope covers energy, potash, critical minerals, fish, and steel and aluminum products already subject to national security tariffs. Canada is the second largest trading partner of the US, with bilateral goods trade volume last year nearing $720 billion.
