TechFlow reports, July 02, according to investigative journalist Whitney Webb, the origin story officially claimed by Polymarket that "founder Shayne Coplan started the business alone in a bathroom in 2020" is a false narrative. The investigation shows that Polymarket actually existed earlier in the form of the company TokenBnk, deeply bound with Israeli interests, specifically involving a crypto company jointly founded by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's nephew and niece.
Additionally, the investigation also directly links Polymarket to venture capitalist Peter Thiel's strategic layout—Thiel intends to use Polymarket to revive the controversial project "Policy Analysis Market" promoted by the disbanded "Information Awareness Office" under DARPA; previously, another prediction market project under Thiel, Augur, had already failed in the same direction. The second part of the investigation series will further reveal how prediction markets are being used to replace representative democracy, with relevant mechanisms reportedly being quietly advanced at the White House level.
