TechFlow reports that on June 9, Zcash core developer Sean Bowe announced via Twitter that Zcash organizations and protocol developers have reached consensus on the specific consensus rule changes for the Zcash network upgrade “Ironwood.”
Ironwood will introduce a new funding pool based on the Orchard protocol. Additionally, circuits applicable to both the existing Orchard funding pool and the new Ironwood funding pool will include a consensus-rule-switchable flag to prohibit payments from within the pool to other users, while preserving the ability to generate change notes.
After the network upgrade, this restriction will be enabled for the legacy Orchard funding pool, and payments to the legacy pool will be prohibited by constraining the valueBalance. Wallets must use the new funding pool to initiate new payments to Orchard receiving addresses and gradually migrate funds from the legacy pool.
