TechFlow News, May 10: According to a CoinDesk report, executives from PayPal and Google Cloud stated that future AI agent-driven commercial activities will operate on cryptocurrency payment rails, as AI agents cannot use traditional bank accounts like humans. Richard Widmann, Head of Web3 Strategy at Google Cloud, noted that AI agents are unable—both technically and from a regulatory standpoint—to directly open bank accounts, whereas cryptocurrencies provide an “excellent machine-readable payment interface.” May Zabaneh, Senior Vice President of PayPal’s Crypto Business, emphasized that merchants must rapidly adapt to the AI agent era; otherwise, they will miss the next wave of commercial infrastructure upgrades.
