TechFlow News, April 20: According to CCTV News, today the Supreme People’s Court released the “Report on Intellectual Property Judicial Protection by Chinese Courts,” providing a comprehensive overview of the people’s courts’ intellectual property judicial protection work in 2025. In 2025, people’s courts accepted 552,600 intellectual property cases of various types and concluded 539,600 cases. Courts strengthened intellectual property adjudication in emerging fields, properly handling civil cases involving frontier issues such as AI-generated content and AI model parameters; they concluded 908 disputes concerning data ownership and transactions, an increase of 25.6% year-on-year.
The Supreme People’s Court is urgently drafting opinions on lawfully and appropriately handling disputes involving artificial intelligence, striving to promote the healthy and orderly development of AI toward beneficial, safe, and fair outcomes. In 2025, people’s courts accepted 11,066 first-instance intellectual property cases involving foreign parties, up 34.1% year-on-year.
