TechFlow reports that on March 24, Fernando Martinelli, co-founder of the Balancer protocol, announced the official shutdown of Balancer Labs (BLabs). He stated that BLabs, as a corporate entity, has become a burden on the protocol’s development. Additionally, due to ongoing legal risks stemming from the v2 vulnerability incident on November 3, 2025, and the lack of a sustainable revenue stream, the decision to shut down BLabs has become unavoidable.
The core BLabs team members will be integrated into Balancer OpCo via governance voting; the related proposal will be submitted by Marcus and Danko. Fernando also emphasized that the protocol retains real operational value and will not cease operations entirely.
