TechFlow News, March 23: According to DL News, David Balland, co-founder of French company Ledger, was kidnapped by a criminal gang in January 2025. The perpetrators severed one of his fingers and demanded 11.5 million U.S. dollars worth of Bitcoin. Following the incident, law enforcement responded swiftly, rescuing Balland and his partner and arresting 10 suspects at the scene—though one suspect escaped to Spain amid the chaos. After several weeks of joint pursuit by Spanish and French authorities, the fugitive was apprehended in Benalmádena, Spain. Currently, the Fuengirola Court is advancing extradition proceedings under the EU European Arrest Warrant framework, and French authorities have confirmed that all individuals involved in the case have been identified and arrested.
