TechFlow News, March 16: According to The Block, HIVE Digital Technologies announced it will gradually scale down its Bitcoin hash rate production operations at its Boden facility in Sweden while simultaneously expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Canada.
HIVE stated that its Swedish subsidiary has long faced tax disputes and regulatory uncertainty. Swedish authorities have imposed a mandatory requirement to post security for disputed tax assessments, rendering the ASIC-based hash rate production model economically unsustainable. The company will reallocate related resources to AI and high-performance computing (HPC) operations in Europe and is exploring the possibility of a full exit from Bitcoin mining in Sweden. Meanwhile, HIVE’s subsidiary BUZZ High Performance Computing announced an expansion of its liquid-cooled AI data center capacity in Canada.
