TechFlow News, March 15: According to Al Jazeera’s March 15 report, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom have responded to U.S. President Trump’s recent social media call urging multiple countries to dispatch naval vessels to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Al Jazeera reported that France stated it would not deploy warships. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official account on the social media platform X posted: “No, the French aircraft carrier and its task force will remain in the eastern Mediterranean.” Japanese officials told local media that Japan would not dispatch naval vessels solely in response to Trump’s appeal, adding, “Japan makes its own decisions on responses, and independent judgment is crucial.”
On March 15, the South Korean presidential office stated it would “carefully consider” Trump’s appeal and maintain “close communication” with the United States. A spokesperson for the UK Ministry of Defence told U.S. media regarding the appeal that the UK is “currently discussing a range of options with our allies and partners to ensure maritime security in the region.” Al Jazeera noted that these responses indicate no country has publicly endorsed Trump’s call thus far.
