TechFlow reports that on February 25, according to Fortune, Sam Bankman-Fried—the convicted founder of FTX—is launching a campaign on social media seeking a presidential pardon. However, a White House spokesperson reiterated to Fortune that President Trump has no intention of granting him a pardon.
Although Bankman-Fried was previously a major donor to the Democratic Party, his recent posts on the social platform X have clearly shifted toward supporting the MAGA agenda—criticizing the “deep state” and praising Trump. This strategic pivot comes amid the Trump administration’s relatively lenient stance on cryptocurrency regulation and its prior issuance of pardons to prominent figures including CZ (Changpeng Zhao), founder of Binance.
Bankman-Fried is currently serving a 25-year federal prison sentence and is challenging his conviction before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The White House spokesperson cited President Trump’s January statement this year, reaffirming that the president does not intend to pardon Bankman-Fried or several other high-profile inmates.
