TechFlow News, February 24: According to The Block, the Ethereum Foundation is establishing a dedicated decentralized finance (DeFi) team under its Application Ecosystems group to support the development of new protocols. The Foundation has appointed Charles St. Louis—former CEO of DELV and governance architect of MakerDAO—as its DeFi Protocol Specialist, and Ivan (“ivangbi”), co-founder of Gearbox Protocol, as its DeFi Coordinator.
The Ethereum Foundation stated: “We want to see DeFi thrive, but we hold a clear vision of what it should be: permissionless, censorship-resistant, privacy-first, self-custodial, and open-source.” St. Louis added on X: “The Ethereum Foundation believes in DeFipunk—not finance that’s merely slightly better than traditional finance, but finance that would be impossible without Ethereum.”
This team will support existing DeFi projects while also focusing on the evolution of “DeFi tomorrow,” including innovative areas such as user-controlled AI and high-throughput on-chain futures markets.
