TechFlow News, February 15: According to The Block, U.S. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Andy Kim sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen urging her to assess whether the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) should review the United Arab Emirates-based company’s $500 million investment in World Liberty Financial. In their letter, the two senators raised concerns that the transaction could grant foreign governments access to user data and noted G42’s prior collaborations with Chinese enterprises. They requested that Secretary Yellen respond by March 5.
It is reported that the U.S. House of Representatives began investigating, in early February, the cryptocurrency firm World Liberty Financial—linked to Donald Trump—and its U.S. dollar-pegged token, including potential ties to a member of the UAE royal family. Representative Ro Khanna has demanded that the company provide ownership records, payment details, and internal communications.
