TechFlow News: On February 9, according to Cointelegraph, The Open Network Foundation launched TON Pay—a new payment software development kit (SDK) designed to enable cryptocurrency-based everyday consumer transactions within the Telegram ecosystem.
TON Pay provides merchants and Mini App developers with a simple, wallet-agnostic payment layer, allowing them to accept cryptocurrency payments directly via Telegram. The tool supports multiple tokens, including Toncoin (TON) and Tether (USDT), with the goal of achieving sub-second transaction times and average fees under one cent.
Nikola Plecas, Vice President of Payments at the TON Foundation, stated that TON Pay aims to serve Telegram’s global user base of over 1.1 billion monthly active users. Initially, the system will operate within Telegram Mini Apps; future plans include expansion to web environments and other platforms, as well as support for subscriptions, gasless transactions, and fiat on-ramps in specific regions.
