TechFlow News, February 1st: NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that the company’s proposed $100 billion investment in OpenAI was never a commitment. “They invited us to invest up to $100 billion—of course, we were thrilled and honored by the invitation—but we will proceed with investment incrementally.” Per a memorandum of understanding signed in September last year, NVIDIA indicated plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI to support new data centers and other AI infrastructure. The deal aims to help OpenAI build data centers with at least 10 gigawatts of power generation capacity—equivalent to New York City’s peak electricity demand—equipped with NVIDIA’s advanced chips for training and deploying AI models.
