TechFlow News, January 28: According to an interview by Foresight News, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared his insights on the convergence of AI and cryptocurrency during a conversation with Joe Zhou. Vitalik stated that Ethereum—as a decentralized “world computer”—is fundamentally “permissionless”: whether human beings, corporations, or AI agents, all enjoy equal access rights to hold assets, conduct transactions, and even participate in DAO governance on Ethereum.
Vitalik highlighted several promising directions for integrating AI with cryptocurrency: AI bank accounts (since AI cannot open accounts at traditional banks, cryptocurrency becomes its only viable option), prediction markets (where AI can act as a trader to provide more accurate information), and content authenticity verification (using blockchain to prove the origin of content creation). He also cautioned against falling into the trap of “integration for integration’s sake,” noting that blockchain—as a foundational trust protocol—may not require drastic changes simply due to the emergence of AI.
Regarding his personal coding habits, Vitalik revealed that he still writes code manually, primarily for practical scripts and research validation. When using AI-powered programming tools, he mainly relies on OpenRouter—a model-aggregation platform—to invoke various models, including ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Gemini.
