TechFlow News, January 25: According to documents filed by Ethereum treasury company ETHZilla with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this Friday, ETHZilla acquired two CFM56-7B24 aircraft engines for $12.2 million through its newly established subsidiary, ETHZilla Aerospace LLC. Both engines are currently leased to a major airline, and ETHZilla has engaged Aero Engine Solutions to manage them on a day-to-day basis in exchange for monthly fees. The transaction includes a buy-sell option agreement: upon lease expiration, either party may require the other to purchase or sell each engine for $3 million, provided the engines remain in good condition.
ETHZilla has previously stated its intention to enter the asset tokenization space, planning to collaborate with regulated broker-dealers to bring cash-flow-generating assets—such as auto loans and residential mortgages—on-chain, with the first batch of tokenized assets expected to launch in Q1 this year.
