TechFlow News, January 24: The Ethereum Foundation announced the formation of a dedicated Post-Quantum (PQ) team, led by Thomas Coratger and supported by Emile, a cryptographer from leanVM, elevating post-quantum security to its highest strategic priority.
Researcher Justin Drake stated that Ethereum is transitioning from long-term background research to active engineering implementation—including launching biweekly post-quantum transaction developer meetings and running a multi-client post-quantum consensus testnet.
The Ethereum Foundation is also increasing funding and community engagement, planning to launch two cryptography prizes each worth $1 million, and hosting multiple post-quantum-related community events and educational initiatives in 2026. The Ethereum Foundation emphasized that although quantum threats remain a medium-to-long-term risk, blockchains must prepare in advance to ensure wallet security and smooth network upgrades.
