TechFlow reports, on January 22, Farcaster co-founder Dan Romero disclosed that Neynar, one of the Farcaster clients, will acquire the decentralized social protocol Farcaster. Over the coming weeks, ownership of Farcaster’s protocol contracts, code repositories, applications, and Clanker will transfer to Neynar, which will assume responsibility for future operations and maintenance.
Some members of the Merkle team, including Varun and Dan Romero, will step back from day-to-day work on Farcaster and shift focus to new projects. The Neynar team has been developing on Farcaster since its inception and was one of the earliest Farcaster clients; its infrastructure now supports much of the developer ecosystem.
Dan Romero stated that after five years of development, Farcaster needs new approaches and leadership to realize its full potential.
