According to Dan Romero, co-founder of Farcaster, Neynar, one of the Farcaster clients, will acquire the decentralized social protocol Farcaster. Over the coming weeks, ownership of Farcaster's protocol contracts, code repositories, applications, and Clanker will be transferred to Neynar, which will assume responsibility for future operations and maintenance. Some members of the Merkle team, including Varun and Dan Romero, will step back from Farcaster's day-to-day operations to focus on new projects. The Neynar team has been building on Farcaster since its inception and was one of the earliest Farcaster clients; its infrastructure now supports much of the developer ecosystem. Dan Romero stated that after five years of development, Farcaster needs a new approach and leadership to realize its full potential.
