TechFlow news, January 21 — Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin announced plans to fully return to decentralized social platforms by 2026. He stated that he has started using firefly.social, a multi-client tool supporting multiple platforms including X, Lens, Farcaster, and Bluesky.
Vitalik emphasized that true social innovation should not be limited to introducing speculative tokens, but should focus on solving social problems themselves. He criticized the practice of integrating tokens with social platforms, arguing that it often rewards existing social capital rather than content quality.
He expressed optimism about the future development of the Lens project and called on more people to participate in decentralized social platforms like Lens and Farcaster, to explore new forms of interaction beyond traditional social media.
