TechFlow news, January 18 — According to CCTV International, U.S. President Trump announced via social media that due to the Greenland issue, all goods exported from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland to the United States will be subject to a 10% tariff starting February 1 of this year. By June 1, the tariff will increase to 25%. These tariffs will remain in effect until an agreement on the "complete and total purchase of Greenland" is reached.
In his post, Trump stated that these eight countries "have all traveled to Greenland for unclear purposes. To protect global peace and security, strong measures must be taken to swiftly and unequivocally end this potentially dangerous situation."
Trump also said, "The United States has been working toward this deal for over 150 years. Many presidents have attempted it, with good reason, but Denmark has consistently refused. Now, given the 'Golden Dome' defense system and modern offensive and defensive weapons systems, acquiring Greenland has become especially urgent."
