TechFlow news, December 31 — According to Cointelegraph, Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine recently urged his supporters to download the decentralized messaging app Bitchat to prepare for potential internet shutdowns by the government ahead of the 2026 presidential election. The Ugandan government reportedly cut off nationwide internet and social media access during the 2016 and 2021 elections, citing security reasons. Meanwhile, the government has also restricted imports of Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet equipment.
