TechFlow, December 30 — According to The Block, Neel Somani, founder of Ethereum Layer-2 protocol Eclipse, stepped down from his role as Executive Chair in October 2025. In a joint statement from the company and Somani, he stated he will focus full-time on machine learning and other academic research. Previously, Eclipse underwent a strategic shift from offering Solana Virtual Machine expansion solutions to developing a high-performance Ethereum Layer-2 network, successfully launching the Eclipse mainnet in 2025. Following Somani's departure, the company is now led by new CEO Sydney Huang, who announced a strategic pivot toward building a single flagship application on its Layer-2 infrastructure. Details of this application are expected to be revealed within the next month.
