TechFlow news, December 8 — According to Cointelegraph, Philippine digital bank GoTyme has launched cryptocurrency services. The bank, which serves 6.5 million customers, has integrated crypto functionality into its banking app through a partnership with U.S.-based fintech firm Alpaca.
Users can now buy and store 11 different crypto assets via the app, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Polkadot (DOT), among others, with the system supporting automatic conversion from Philippine pesos to U.S. dollars for transactions.
GoTyme CEO Nate Clarke said the product focuses on simplicity and reliability, designed for users who want to confidently purchase cryptocurrencies without complex technical analysis or managing multiple apps.
Reportedly founded in October 2022 through a collaboration between Singaporean unicorn Tyme Group and Philippine conglomerate Gokongwei Group, GoTyme plans to expand into Vietnam and Indonesia. The bank is currently prioritizing rapid growth over profitability and does not expect to optimize profitability before 2027.
