TechFlow news, December 5 — According to CriptoNoticias, on December 4 the Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies approved two resolutions requiring the collection of information on cryptocurrency mining activities. Proposed by Deputy María Constancia Benítez, the resolutions aim to strengthen control, transparency, and regulation over the rapidly expanding mining industry.
The resolutions require relevant agencies to submit reports within 15 days. The first resolution mandates the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to provide information on individuals and companies registered for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining. The second requires the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) to provide a list of all power connections authorized for cryptocurrency mining, including the names of responsible parties and installation locations.
According to data from Hashrate Index, Paraguay currently controls approximately 3.9% of global hashrate, ranking fourth worldwide after the United States, Russia, and China. The country has become a popular destination for international miners due to its surplus hydropower energy.
