TechFlow news, November 21 — According to The Block, U.S. authorities are investigating Bitmain, the Bitcoin mining equipment manufacturer, assessing whether its products pose a risk to U.S. national security.
The investigation, known as "Operation Red Sunset" and led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, is examining whether Bitmain's mining devices could be remotely manipulated for espionage or to disrupt the U.S. power grid. The probe includes chip and firmware inspections of Bitmain equipment seized at U.S. ports, running parallel to policy discussions with the White House National Security Council.
Bitmain has denied the allegations, stating its devices do not have remote control capabilities and calling the claims "completely wrong."
