TechFlow news, November 5 — According to Decrypt, Amazon recently issued a cease-and-desist letter to AI search startup Perplexity AI, demanding its Comet browser stop conducting shopping activities on Amazon's platform. Amazon accused Comet of masquerading bots as human shoppers, violating its terms of service and harming user experience. Perplexity countered that this was "classic legal intimidation" and emphasized users' right to choose their digital assistants. Perplexity stated that Comet only uses credentials stored locally on users' devices and acts entirely on behalf of users.
