TechFlow, October 31 — According to TheBlock, New York bankruptcy court Judge David S. Jones has approved the interim relief request from the Multichain liquidator in Singapore, requiring Circle to maintain the freeze on hacker wallets containing millions of dollars worth of stolen USDC. Multichain suffered a $210 million hack in July 2023, including approximately $63 million in USDC. Previously, the U.S. Department of Justice had prepared to lift the seizure order due to inability to identify the hackers; this ruling ensures these assets remain frozen during cross-border liquidation proceedings. Meanwhile, U.S. investors have filed a class-action lawsuit against Circle, attempting to gain control over the stolen funds.
