TechFlow news, October 19 — According to The Block, Ross Calvin, founder and CEO of mining firm Parhelion, has proposed building a "Great Colossus of Prometheus" on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, standing approximately 450 feet (about 137 meters) tall, with an estimated total investment of around $450 million.
If constructed, the statue would surpass the Statue of Liberty in height (approximately 305 feet from base to torch), making it a new landmark for the San Francisco Bay Area. Advancing this project would require federal approval to reclassify Alcatraz Island from a national park to a national monument, along with relevant planning and construction permits.
