TechFlow news, on October 16, NBCUniversal announced its continued deepening of collaboration with Aptos Labs to integrate blockchain technology into digital media and entertainment experiences. The two parties are jointly advancing two key projects: the decentralized media operating system Watchee and the interactive entertainment platform Backlot Club.
Watchee is built by Aptos Labs for NBCUniversal and powered by Shelby, the first decentralized cloud-grade hot storage protocol. This system aims to redefine how media assets are distributed, accessed, and interacted with, enabling seamless cross-platform content circulation. Watchee is currently open for waitlist registration and is expected to launch between the first and second quarters of 2026.
Backlot Club is an interactive entertainment platform launched by NBCUniversal this year, offering fans a new immersive experience through themed challenges, digital badges, and reward mechanisms. The platform made its debut during Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood's "Halloween Horror Nights 2025," featuring an interactive treasure hunt game powered by Aptos Labs. The platform is now officially live and operational.
This collaboration further solidifies Aptos' position as a global enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure provider, establishing a new technological framework for the digital transformation of the traditional entertainment industry.
