Have you ever wondered why the price of $GRASS is rising?
Grass allocated 10% of its total supply for Airdrop One, distributing tokens to 2 million users. Around 100,000 users received over 100 $GRASS each—worth about $200—by running the application and sharing public data with the Grass network. This public data was previously being shared freely, often without users' awareness, across numerous websites.
This airdrop is just the beginning. Next comes staking, with approximately 35% of circulating $GRASS currently staked. The current annual percentage yield (APY) stands at around 50%, which is highly attractive. Additionally, venture investors cannot immediately unlock their staking rewards, giving retail investors greater confidence—especially in light of disappointing post-airdrop performances seen with tokens like $TIA and $SUI.
Now, your shared public data is transmitted via TLS encryption, protecting user privacy. Those who run nodes will be rewarded as demand for Grass grows.
Just weeks ago, Grass's founder revealed that their daily data retrieval volume reached 80TB. Even after a 10% reduction following the airdrop event, we can still expect roughly 10TB of data retrieval per day—about 300TB monthly.
So, what’s the average cost of data retrieval under low-to-moderate estimates? It ranges from approximately $0.1 to $100 per GB. Conservatively, we can estimate $1 per GB as a price companies might be willing to pay for data retrieved through the Grass network. Based on this figure, Grass could generate around $300,000 in monthly revenue initially, and if daily retrieval reaches 80TB again, monthly revenue could exceed $3,000,000—a very achievable target in the near future.
You might wonder why I'm writing this article. Simply because I find it interesting. I don't hold $GRASS, I'm not running any nodes, nor am I being paid—this is purely an independent research effort driven by curiosity, intended to provide educational insights. I am not offering any investment advice here.
