Today, let's dive into some key data points about TON.
From the chart above, we can see that TON's on-chain TVL is $81.91 million. Compared to chains like SOL, this figure falls several levels behind—even lagging behind individual projects on those networks. Why is that? The second image shows us that TON's ecosystem is currently quite underdeveloped. Among the 13 projects listed by Defillama, four are liquid staking protocols.
Take Tonstakers, currently ranked first—we can see it only accepts TON for staking, offering an annual yield of just 4.13%. This is very low. We know that popular DeFi projects on ETH or SOL previously attracted massive user inflows. However, despite Telegram’s over one billion users, adoption hasn’t translated well—primarily due to the lack of stablecoins on TON. Currently, apart from USDT, other stablecoins like jUSDT and jUSDC suffer from low liquidity and high swap slippage. More importantly, these stablecoins lack real-world asset backing and auditing.
Although TON has built a cross-chain bridge with Ethereum, no major projects from the ETH ecosystem have yet deployed on TON, preventing external traffic from flowing in. Likewise, TON’s vast Telegram-driven user base cannot easily access other blockchains through existing protocols—largely because TON’s underlying architecture differs significantly from EVM-based chains.
Therefore, what’s needed now is a bridging project capable of connecting TON with the broader blockchain world.
