Gaming, e-commerce, and DeFi applications are leveraging Sui’s unique social authentication feature to eliminate one of the biggest barriers preventing mainstream audiences from entering Web3.
Sui, the rapidly rising Layer 1 blockchain created by former leaders of Facebook’s Diem project, announced on January 25 that more than ten decentralized applications in the Sui ecosystem have integrated zkLogin—a tool that makes logging into Web3 applications as easy as using familiar services like Google or Twitch.
Sui continues to enhance zkLogin by introducing new identity providers and additional features such as multi-signature support. Thanks to these latest upgrades, thousands of users will now be able to use zkLogin and experience the world’s first one-click entry into cryptocurrency.
Kostas Chalkias, co-founder and chief cryptographer at Mysten Labs, said: “zkLogin is a native, Sui-exclusive tool that enables developers to let users authenticate to Web3 applications using the same social logins they already use elsewhere. As we move into the next phase of adoption, tools like zkLogin will become a prerequisite for mainstream users accessing decentralized networks.”
(Editor's note: Mysten Labs is the company backed by a16z and Circle that built the Sui network)
Wallets supporting zkLogin now include Chrome-based wallets such as Ethos Wallet and Sui Wallet. zkLogin is also now integrated into mobile apps via Suiet and Surf Wallet, available on both the Play Store and App Store.
Similarly, Web3 games like Suilette and Quantum Temple are adopting zkLogin to offer users a simpler and more intuitive onboarding experience.
Finally, DeFi applications on Sui are also leveraging this unique advantage. Prominent protocols such as DegenHive, Blockbolt, Aftermath, Navi, and BlueFin have already integrated the technology, enabling users to manage their digital assets and participate in financial activities without needing to handle private keys.
Zabi Mohebzada, co-founder of Bluefin, said: “zkLogin is a game-changer in the Web3 space, especially for DeFi. With zkLogin, users can sign up and trade using just a Google account—no wallet required. This allows us to unlock the security benefits of decentralized trading for a much broader investor audience.”
Launched in 2023, zkLogin was one of the first industry solutions to enable Web2-based authentication for Web3, allowing users to join the Sui ecosystem without installing a separate wallet or memorizing and managing seed phrases.
